Axel Scheffler is a German illustrator and animator based in London. He is best known for Illustrating children's books. 

 

Axel Scheffler was born in Hamburg, Germany on the 12th December 1957.

In 1982 he moved from Germany to the UK to study visual communications at Bath Academy of Art.

The first book of Julia Donaldson's that he illustrated was 'A Squash and a Squeeze' and he has since gone on to illustrate many more for her.

In recent years, Axel Scheffler began writing as well as illustrating. Books that he has written include 'Pip and Posy', and 'A Mouse and a Rabbit'.
